Mexican Food!

So yesterday we headed over to the other side of the Amstel for some burritos. I never had authentic mexican food. There is not a lot of that in Sweden, so I was so phyched that Veronica (she's American - the masters of Mexican food) said that it was pretty close to what they served in the states. Anyways, to be quite frank, I liked it. It was good. Not a out-of-body-experience, but it was tasty. A bit pricey. I had the smothered beef and been burrito, which was 10.5 E. However, the size. O-M-G (that's what she said) I couldn't eat anything afterwards, I couldn't eat breakfast this morning.
This pic was taken in march, when we found the place. yeah, it took us 2 months to go there and eat. I guess we are a bit slow sometimes...
my precious smothered burrito
The salsa sauce that we literally drank from the bottle, very hot, spicy and yummy.
I did finish it, but I came in third. Juli and Veronica beat me. yeah, we competed. that's how we roll - mexican style!

Like Park Bom

Somehow I started to eat a lot of food.
And then I take pictures of the food.
Why, you might ask.
Do that.
I don't know why.
But i like to take a lot of pictures.
Yes, I am the irritating girl with the camera.

떡볶이Ddukbokkie - Spicy rice cake
김 구이My new addiction, Seasoned and Roasted Laver
*and to those who don't know how Park Bom is, have clearly not done their K-pop homework.

in a Korean mood

My whole apartment spells like kimchi.
I hope my roomie doesn't mind.

I really like food

So today I went a little crazy in China town and bought so much food.

And then I made the best lunch I've had in weeks.
months?
years?
Anyway, I did some creme spinach (spinach with creme fraiche) that I put in the maki/kimbap and some other stuff.
Well you can see the pictures (or read the text below).

Creme spinach
sugar snaps
toasted salted Korean seaweed with rice mixed with 고추장, leak and sesame seeds
Kimbap with carrot, leak, sesame seeds and yellow pickled radish

Food is one of my great pleasures in life.
Especially when I don't have to cook it.
Here in 'dam, it has become a habit to go to restaurants, eet cafes and ordering in.
So last week me and Veronica went to this awesome sushi place.
A bit pricy but soooo worth it.
I missed sushi.
I haven’t found any nice and cheap place yet.
But this was what I believe heaven is like.
Food circling around and you choose what you want to have.

I had the tempura shrimp sushi plate, avocado and salmon California roll and tuna sashimi (but I was too excited to take a picture of it).

So freakin awesome!
I will definitely go back.
Tho it’s kinda funny that I happen to choose the most expensive plates.
I guess I’m lucky that way.

My gastronomic abilities

I haven't cooked warm food in ages.
Somehow I lost my joy for cooking.
Instead I prefer to do the dishes.
Sunday I ended up washing the dishes at my friends place...
weird.

Anyway.
Yesterday I had my first home COOKED meal since....
I don’t remember....weeks? (I survive on rice crackers and cereals).
Mac and ketchup with sunny side up.
I love cooking.

Food Porn

rice noddles with rosted pork. the pork was delish! I could eat that pork my entire life.
Nomnomnomonom.

Yesterday evening we went to this Chinese restaurant in the Pipe.
Really cheap, awesome, greasy Chinese food.
But it's fun coz I always get the question if I'm Chinese.
Even funnier that Veronica, my friend who also loves Asian food, is half Chinese, but no one ever asks her.
I've stopped saying I'm Swedish coz it harder to explain the whole story so to save energy and words I just say that I'm Korean.
But it's kinda tricky coz then they start speaking Korean to me.
But due to this I learned the most common Korean words so I can just nod and smile.
Yeah, it took me 6 weeks to learn 안녕하세요 and 감사합니다.
So yesterday when the cute Chinese lady asked me if I was Chinese I just said "no, I'm Korean."
She replied
감사합니다 (thank you).
And I smiled and nodded.
How can I reply to thank you in Korean?
참 잘 오셨습니다?
But it's really hard to lean that.
Anyway my point with this post is not to have a Korean Language lesson.
So me and Veronica always ask for chopsticks and are the only ones who put a lot of chili sauce on the food.
and everyone always look at us like we're crazy.
just because we can eat with sticks and handle the heat.
we're awesome.
but I really need to learn how to eat spicy food.
I can handle spicy food but Veronica plays in a totally different league.
I wanna be able to eat spicy food like her.
But when I do.
I get cramps in my stomach.
And need to be alone in a certain room all night.

Bitterballen

yeah, Dutch food...

Honey, dinner's ready!

Starbucks

Yes, ladies and gents - I've joined the other side.
This Saturday I was very tired and needed coffee.
Conveniently enough there was a Starbuck just in front of me.

So I ordered a tall cafe latte with soya milk (there is no place in Amsterdam with lactose free milk, :*(). And I have to say.....

It was okay. It’s kinda like Espresso House in Sweden.
Not my new religion or a heavenly experience.
Just a expensive, nice cup of cafe latte.

Meatcoma no. 2 and 3

So, today at breakfast I had bacon, eggs and baguette with a lot of ham.
Then for dinner:

a few ribs.

Bagels and Beans

I have a new favourite. Had dinner with a friend who made vietmamese spring rolls. So delicious, lovely, just lovely.

oh, gosh I feel sick

I ate to many marshmallows.
or in this case Cham-allows? Chamallows.

(Believe it or not, but I actually didn't eat all of them. When we made our schedule for next month at work, we all at a bunch but of course I had to have some for dessert.)

Sometimes life is good!

I'm so freakin healthy

lunch

And so the studentlife begins...

breakfast: banana, yoghurt and energydrink.

Love thy neighbour

Yesterday was a good day.

I walked into the kitchen and the foreman of the corridor's gf had made cinnamon rolls.

defrosting a chicken next to the freshly baked rolles, hygienic.

Sometimes I get scared of myself...

...coz I'm so awesome.

Sometimes I hate breakfast...

...not today.
